Week 1 Results

Okay, here is what I have so far. I have been waiting for some of you so I haven't posted yet. If you email me by Monday night each week I will post the results. It needs to be percentage lost, not pounds. Just look to the right and you will find a link to a calculator that makes it super easy! So, if I haven't heard from you yet, email me and I will update. It is only fair to see how everyone is doing and where the competition lies right? Plus...it's motivation. I hate Leslie right now and I think about beating her daily while I work out! Jk Leslie but seriously, it IS good motivation! :) Happy dieting!

I think you know me but...

(Me and my bro after running a half marathon in October.)

Hi, my name is Teresa and I’m a sugaraholic. There, I said it! Okay, the truth is, I like food in general which is a problem for me because I don’t have that great of a metabolism. Don’t you hate those people that eat whatever they want and never gain a pound?? Yeah, me too.  I am highly motivated to do this competition because I’ve been a little (lot) slack lately in my dieting efforts and have put back on a few of the awesome 70 pounds I lost. I have to look fab for all of my male suitors ya know? Really, I want to FEEL good and look good. It really does something to boost the old self confidence. And when I have boosted self confidence and I’m lookin so fine, way more guys pay attention to me which is a good thing since I’d like to get married any time God is willing to send my man my way!

Now that my motivation is well intact, I also have strategy and I’m pretty sure as a result, none of you will be getting my extra hundred (dollars that is, not pounds, haha)! When I get the fire started to lose weight, it often becomes a little bit of an obsession for me. As a result, I currently work out at least twice a day and I’ve just been doing little things to change my diet…like cutting out a lot of sugar and chips, watching my bread and cracker intake, and adjusting portions accordingly. I’m trying not to starve my body because that never does anyone any good. I eat plenty…just the right things more so than the wrong things.

I’m excited for everyone else to get on here and introduce yourselves so let’s get to it huh?! I’m also excited for my hot bod in April where I will FINALLY reach my goal weight…which is currently about 25 pounds away from me. Lame! Feel free to share any other amazing ideas you all have because we are all in this together. On that note too, for those of you in town, Danise and I are participating in a 5k in March if anyone wants to join us. That is also good motivation. Let’s do this and let’s do it right!

Meet the Canadian, Eh!

Hello everyone. I'm guessing I am the only Canadian in this competition, but that's ok, although I would love to be there will all of you for support and I miss the mountains there, gosh they are beautiful!

A little about me. Well, it's pretty sad that I am overweight because I didn't used to be and I have all of the resources at my fingertips to be healthy and in shape (my parents own a health food store, I am a Zumba instructor and I have an amazing amount of muscle mass that should just eat up all the fat in my body)unfortunately I went through a really bad few years (car accident, lost job x2, lost boyfriend x2, lost grandfather x2 and lost dog) most of which happened within 6 months and I ended up in a depression that lasted for a couple of years. Anyway, not to be a downer I am now on the upside of things and lost quite a bit of weight last year, unfortunately again most of it has been put back on so now I am looking for a different way to make the weight loss more permanent. I am especially motivated since I have about 6 months until my 30th birthday so I am ready to get back on things, and I miss my thin self from last summer.

How am I going to accomplish this you ask, well I have this new outlook about this year which is that I pretend that I am already the person I want to be. For example I will ask myself "would the girl I want to be just veg in front of the t.v or would she get off her but and go workout?" So far it's not going too bad, but there's always room for improvement. I've also found a new diet that I am having really great results with and it's completely reasonable and still allows me to exercise ( something last year’s diet did not let me do without feeling sick.)

I look forward to following everyone's progress and I know we'll all look great at the end of March. As a tool to help everyone I've created a printable calendar (that looks like a smaller version of the one from MTV's 'I Used To Be Fat') that you can print out and count down the days that we have left. Just contact me and I will email the PDF to you.
Cheers,
Heather

K, Here I go :)

So, I'm excited! When I'm dieting and trying to stick to an exercise routine I NEED it to be in the forefront of my mind or before I know it I'm stuffing my face with chips and salsa or I've let the whole day go by without getting to the gym. But I don't want to be one of those people who are always gabbing about it to people who couldn't care less, you know? That is why I am happy to have a place to direct my thoughts and questions. I'll tell you right now, I'm an analyzer, a planner, and I love data. Numbers help me. I like the quantifiable, so that's the kind of approach I take with weight loss. I'll do my best not to drive you all crazy :)

Now my stats- I'm a SAHM with 3 kids. My youngest started first grade in September. Before that I home-schooled on and off and even with half day kindergarten, there is just always a good reason to skip the gym. When the school year started I told myself that if I couldn't make the time now, it would never happen and I just am not willing to be overweight forever. As it is, I have never been BMI "normal" my entire adult life. I lost 25 pounds from September until winter break and it felt great!! but when Christmas time got crazy and the kids were around all day I fell off the wagon big time. Luckily I have been able to maintain my weight, but I am "softer" for sure and I can't wait to get back to the gym and start building that muscle and see the scale drop again. I've got 10 lbs to go until that magical healthy BMI number and then another 10-15 lbs to meet my goal weight. Its hard to know just what my goal will be for sure since I've always felt fat and NEVER went near scales all through high school up until my first pregnancy at the ripe old age of 20 (and I was definitely over weight by then). The good news is that I am coming off my success from the end of 2011 and I know that what I was doing worked, so now I just need to get my head in the game again and get back to it! For me, that means HIIT cardio on the elliptical 20-30 minutes 6/week, protein shakes after my workouts, about 1500 calories a day(frequent small meals), weights 2/week and lots of sweat.

I'd love to hear about you and what works for you! My name is Jill, I am 5' 8'' and weighed in this morning at 175 big ones! :)

Let's Get this Party Started!

Hey everybody! I am so excited that you all are going to get more healthy with us! It's so motivating to have a group of people all working toward the same goal. Okay, money is also a huge motivator right? So here's the deal, we will get started on Monday so weigh in and then the next Monday you can send me your percentage of weight lost and I will post it weekly so we can keep tabs on who we need to beat the next week. This week it'd be really cool if you got on here and introduced who you are and why you want to join us. Pictures are fun too but not necessary. Throughout the competition you can get on here and post cool recipes or share some ideas of what you are doing, if you don't feel too threatened by that. I will send out a permission to author email to everyone involved. Don't forget to send your cash to Danise or I this week so that we can put it in a pool for the bigger winners! Okay, let's get started!!
